Tinder: Finland Edition

For those of you who are not familiar, Tinder is a social networking app that puts young singles in contact with each other. It is a good way to meet up with someone while traveling or if you are a little fed up with your dating pool at home.

Obviously, I have never used this app. However, I am extremely tempted to download it. Here's why:

While Leah was here, we "played Tinder" on her account. You get to swipe through potential suitors , viewing a few photos and a short bio. If you like what you see, swipe right. If you don't, keep on swipin' left. If you "swipe right" on someone and they "swipe right" on you, its a match! Then commences the awkward conversations through the app's messaging system.

Now why we called it "playing Tinder" is because we were not doing it seriously. If done correctly, it is a game worth hours of entertainment. Its a huge confidence boost (I assume) when you match with someone, and it includes all of the fun parts of new "relationships" all within the convenience of your phone and the separation of its screen.
"Hey you are cute, I like you"
"Hey she's cute, I like her"
Its a match! Destiny awaits!
Flirty chatting ensues:
"Hey, cute pics! (wink face)"
"Hey there. I like yours too. Where do you live?"
....And so it goes.

And, yes, I say "we" because Leah and I would vote on ones we liked, and since she matched with every one she liked, I demanded that I be a part of the conversations, which almost always turn ridiculous, depending on what the guy is after.

Now, as you might imagine, all sorts of people flock to Tinder. Apparently, the Finnish Tinder-ers are some of the most interesting, hilarious, bizarre, and unique in the world. Who are these people?? We swiped and swiped for hours, laughing our heads off at some of the profiles. For your viewing pleasure, we took screen shots of our favorite ones.

Prepare yourselves. Content may not be suitable for young children or my grandmother.
Hopefully I don't get into some sort of Tinder trouble for this, but, come on. If you are going to put this stuff out there, its bound to come back to you. Also, I hope I don't meet any of these people while in Helsinki.

Raine is one of my favorites. I mean, read that Bio! "Just looking for a girl who is nice and doesn't have ebola." What more could he ask for? I hope this guy has a great sense of humor; if not, that is a touch too creepy. I am also curious as to the length of his slicked-back locks.

Also hoping this guy has a great sense of humor. He actually looks like he is a really cool dude. I just love that while most guys put up terrible bathroom selfies, Janne went with a picture of himself on play equipment for small children. Its awesome and hilarious.

Jorts (jean-shorts), a sun hat, AND a fox. I'm in! Mom, can I keep him?! ...the fox, obviously.

Neck tattoos; totally my thing. This is a standard picture for most Finnish guys on the app.

And the hands-down winner for best/worst Tinder profile picture goes to Pasi.
Why? Just.....why?!
How is this working out for you so far, buddy?

So there you go: dating life in Finland.
I have never been happier to be married.
